Phuket is not Thailand’s deepest pickleball market, but it might be its most convenient. Courts are concentrated in the Cherngtalay and Laguna areas in the north of the island, where the expat residential community has built a solid weekly scene. The crowd is a mix of long-stay expats, visiting tourists, and a growing number of Thai players who have taken up the sport through hotel programs.

The venue quality here is noticeably higher than most Southeast Asian cities — several courts are purpose-built at resort facilities, with proper surfaces, good lighting, and equipment rental on site. But the drop-in culture is well-established and the English-speaking environment means barriers to entry are minimal.

Phuket pickleball is resort town pickleball: social, accessible, and built for people who are on holiday and want to keep moving. The Cherngtalay community includes long-term expat residents who take the game seriously, but the overall culture tilts toward participation over competition. Beginners are welcomed without condescension. Intermediate players find consistent games. The atmosphere at the Laguna area courts on a weekday morning — a few courts running, palm trees, the humidity just starting to build — has a very particular kind of ease to it.
