Thai pickleball culture is warm in the way that Thailand generally is — genuinely warm, not performatively welcoming. Players will offer you water before you ask. Someone will lend you a paddle without being asked. After the session, the group tends to disperse to nearby street food stalls, and the invitation is usually open. The competitive sessions exist and are serious, but even those sessions have a lightness to them that you rarely find in Tokyo or Seoul.
